Authors are Asking for Festival Fees…and They Should Get Them

goes on at great length to explain not just that more authors are now expecting appearance fees for book festivals, but why they want to be paid.  By its very nature, the article seems to suggest that it is a revolutionary idea that the "names" who make up any convention or festival appearance should be compensated for their time.
